A doula's role is not to replace Dad's role in the birth process, but to support it. As a doula I support Dad, as well as Mom. Doulas help dads support moms by offering breaks and making sure that he is taken care of as well. Dad can help support mom in a labor position while I rub her back. Dad's are best at loving and emotionally supporting mom. Doulas take the pressure off of Dad having to remember what was covered in the childbirth classes.
Dads and doulas make a great support team for Mom!
